I'm going to be starting up a Nano Cube soon and was wondering if I use water and LR from my established 40G that should reduce or eliminate the cycle time, right? All the water params in the other tank are right on and the LR i want to use has been in there about 4 months. Please let me know if my logic is somehow flawed! Thanks.

Nope, not flawed, but any small issues you may have in your 40G with water quality will be magnified.

Would adding 1/2 new H20 and 1/2 "used" H20 reduce that risk of any small issues becoming big issues in the nano? Or would it mean I'd have to leave some time to cycle?

Sure, it may cause a small cycle, but shouldn't be anything drastic IMHO. Just make sure to match the salinity, alk, ph, and any other chems that you can. As well as the temperature, which should prevent dieoff on your LR.

I'm going to Belize on Saturday, so I'll get everything up and running when I return a week later. Looking forward to snorkling and diving!

buy an underwater disposeable camera (if you don't have a fancy one) and share the underwater diving love with the rest of us landlocked vacationless suckers!
