One question: That spraybar return near the bottom .... is that going to be on a recirculation loop or is it pumped from a sump/refugium below? If so, there might be some concern about power outages. But seeing as how well you've designed the rest of this, I'm sure that's all taken into account.

Hello Leonard, thanks!

Both the inlets are going to have 1-way valves.
the spraybar and nozzle are going to be hooked up to a SCWD 'Squid' Wave machine. (Tee shaped device that oscillates flow from left to right without electricity). changed my mind about timer setup, to noisy. and the fuge will be small located on the back of the tank along w/a auto top-off sytem.

Think nanos make it affordable.

thanks for input......

I love the scwd device, I have it on my 20 high, and it is wonderful. I have been able to clean up the inside of my tank, no powerheads at all in it, and have since plumbed the scwd into a configuration that alternates current from all four corners. I f this is your first setup employing it, however, be forewarned that it does need the water filter before entering the mechanism, as it will clog it pretty quickly. I typically have to clean mine every couple of weeks, but it is simple also. Tank looks good, good luck.

Nice setup, how hard to drill was the thin glass? I did a 20g long, and we were really scared it would shatter due to thickness.

I'm going to do a nano desktop, just havent got around to it yet, and the scwd is on the list of hardware, along with a bakpak probably....

ConM -

I'd reconsider using the one way check valves and going to a closed loop instead. While I've never used one in my system, I've heard too many stories of the valves failing during a power outage to trust them.

Ditto on the check valves. You could put the fuge at the same level as the tank and then it wouldn't be a concern. That setup looks super nice!

thanks Bat Man,

since the tank is going by the side of my bed, I need the space. so i decided to go w/a small overflow box instead and a fuge underneath.

Good so far, but my xenia isn't looking so good right now :( When everything's nicely cycled, I have free ( :D :D :D ) access to cuttings of sinularia, gorgonians, zoanthids, mushrooms, montipora, acropora, sarcophytons, as well as tons of little brittle stars, abalones, starfish, etc. We also have regular access to sea urchin larvae, newly hatched artemia, rotifer cultures, and live phytoplankton to feed the tank. To top it all off I have access to a 700 gallon vat of natural sea water. I love my job!
