  1. Please help me identify this isopod.

Looks like the same thing I have all over my tank. Check this thread: http://reefs.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=30513 I don't have any fish, just the clean up crew and a toadstool leather with no problems. I'm putting seahorses in tomorrow, so we'll see if they are dangerous -- so far they seem...
  2. Scarlet Reef Crab Babies

Hi Robin. I have never actually seen this happen before, so I thought it was pretty 8) . I've got about 50 of them in a separate container and am going to try and raise them - might be fun in a sadistic sorta way. Does anyone have any ideas on what try for feeding? Like I said in an earlier...
  3. Scarlet Reef Crab Babies

Thanks for the lookup! Would a scarlet reef crab carry a cumella brood in its shell? Unless there is a symbiotic relationship going on that I don't know about, these are definitely scarlet reef crab babies. The parent crab is fine, not dead, so .... Also, they are about 2-3 mm long. I'm...
  4. Scarlet Reef Crab Babies

So this was wierd...I'm watching my toadstool leather with a red flashlight after lights out - it had been acting strange. All of a sudden, there is a scarlet reef crab climbing out of its shell next to the coral. Since I watched one of these guys do this and die yesterday, I figured another...
  5. Large Glass Tank Builders, Please Help

Thanks. I think I might just try it. My guess is it would start a slow leak that I could catch if the seam started to fall apart. Tim
  6. Another Tank Building Question

Mad, I haven't built one, but what about building a good solid frame around the top instead of braces? Or what about running a brace inside the tank between the two plywood sides - like maybe a PVC pipe. Then build the reef rock structure up and over that brace to hide it. All that would...

Len the show name is "War Wrecks of the Coral Seas" and looks like it'll be played 3 times over the next week. Here's a link: http://www.pbs.org/wnet/nature/index.html Tim

  9. Large Glass Tank Builders, Please Help

Here's a question for you... I have a 29 gal glass tank the I acquired from a friend and we have no idea how old it is. I filled it up a week ago right to the bottom of the top frame. One of the seams apparently isn't sealed with silicone at the very top because I can see water drip down in...
  10. Can anyone ID this thing?

Thanks Investigator :o , I think that's it. I really appreciate your help - I couldn't find a good enough picture of one. I'll have to bookmark some of the sites I find when I look for more info on this guy. Tim
  11. Can anyone ID this thing?

Hi Everyone! I'm cycling my tank after adding Marshall Island LR and a Fauna kit from Inland. There has been a substantial number of these critters showing up. I think they are some type of Isopod, but wanted to know if anyone had more specifics since there are so many in the tank. No fish...
  12. Green Sarcophyton

That's a toadstool (Sarcophyton) leather? 8O Wow! Do you know what area it came from or which specfic species it is? I was thinking about one of the more well known species that has the shorter polyps on it. Great pic! :D Tim
  13. Anyone ID this crab please!

Actually, I think it might be a Daira perlata (Herbst, 1790).
  14. Anyone ID this crab please!

Thanks for the ID. That looks a lot like him...except the 2 I have look a little more hairy. Also mine do not have any muave coloring....perhaps juvenile? There are grooves along the back side, but not as pronounced. I guess I'll have to try and trap the other one. I only got one so far.
  15. Anyone ID this crab please!

Hi Everyone! I'm cycling my tank and found a couble crabs (about a half to one inch wide) that hitchhiked along with my LR. Any thoughts on what type this is? I was thinking Emerald based on what I saw at an LFS, but am not 100% sure. Thanks for the help! Tim Face shot Belly shot -...
