  1. LTA Strange Behavior

I recently received a new LTA (Macrodactyla doreensis) it arrived on Wednesday morning. Once opened the bag had a slight smell but it's tentacles stuck well and I slowly acclimated it over several hours. Once in the tank my maroon clown took to it happily and it smeed to settle into the sand...
  2. LTA sucked into powerhead

Thanks Gregory! It is slowly starting to come out of the ph. It's still too hard to see the total impact, but I can see some of it's tenticals in tact, but there are a lot of fine shreds  still hoping though . . .
  3. LTA sucked into powerhead

Thanks Ben. It is a sad morning, I still hope for the best and that it's anemone crab isn't inside there too.
  4. LTA sucked into powerhead

Hello all, Sometime last night my LTA decided to move last night and was found this morning in half sucked into the power head (all tentacles up inside). I have turned the power head off and tried to nudge it loose but it is firmly inside. I would appreciate any recommendations on what to do...
  5. Parasite on my clown

I had great success with Melafix, which does not contain copper and had no negative impact on my inverts. (Also assumming you parameters are all in check).
  6. Halide bulbs Interchangeable?

I really appreciate the feedback. My sandbed at its low point is 3in deep so from the top of the bed at that point to the water surface is 16in. So it sound like T5s may be a great choice considering bulb longevity and keeping heat down. The 2 fixtures I’m looking at are the Aqualight Pro...
  7. Halide bulbs Interchangeable?

Thanks for the quick response. I've also been reviewing T-5 fixtures, and have been going through posts today and some are moving away from MH and moving to T-5s. Are T-5 really stong enough to support corals, or are MH still the way to go? Kind regards, Sarah
  8. Halide bulbs Interchangeable?

I am currently running power compacts (4 - 96watts over my 75gal) and am considering getting a new lighting system. I would like to know if I can place a smaller watt halide bulb e.g. 150w in a 250w halide fixture (similar to placing a smaller watt incandescent bulb in a ceiling fixture). I...
  9. Rose Anemone

Thanks for the help! The mushrooms didn't seem to be producing any more then usual, just that they hadn't stopped :) I have received my new bulbs and my rose seems to be preking up. I also started to feed it manually by using a small bottle that I put food in and letting it fall out into it's...
  10. Rose Anemone

Everything else in the tank is thriving and doing very well; I fogot to mention I also have mushrooms in the take which are duplicateing like weeds. I measure salinity with a Deep Six Hydrometer and tempature though my chiller. My bulbs are ready to be replaced, they are not quite a year old...
  11. Rose Anemone

I have had a rose anemone for 9+ years, over the last year it has becoming increasing smaller and I am concerned that I am going to lose it. For a bit of extra history on it was home to a pair of clown fish for the first 4 years when the male clown died (summer heat and the chiller failed :( )...
  12. Starfish Health/Age - Insight needed

Thank you Fungia! I hope he enjoy his home as much as I enjoyed him. He will be missed if he doesn't recover.
  13. Starfish Health/Age - Insight needed

I have had a brittle starfish for 6+years and have recently noticed that it appears to be deteriorating. Its underside appears to be spiny and doesn’t take food into its stomach but picks it apart. Water tests come back fine. I found a small white brittle star not far from where my brittle...
  14. tiger tail cucumber shedding??? :?

My tiger tail cucumber appears to be shedding an outter layer. I am not sure if it just mucus or it's actual skin. I have had this cucumber for about 4 years and have never noticed this before (however, it has gone unseen for months at a time). It also appears smaller. Any ideas and comments...
  15. Cladocora? and an Algae ID needed

Great Thanks! for the ID. Are there any types of livestock I should avoid (that might bother the Cladocora?)
