tiger tail cucumber shedding??? :?

My tiger tail cucumber appears to be shedding an outter layer. I am not sure if it just mucus or it's actual skin. I have had this cucumber for about 4 years and have never noticed this before (however, it has gone unseen for months at a time). It also appears smaller.

Any ideas and comments welcome.
