I'm cycling a 55g right now. I have a 35g that I used a Bak Pak 2r on (the bak pak is on the 55g). I bought a prizm for my 35 because I'm turning it into a Seahorse tank and there won't be such a great bioload as my reef.
I'm really pleased with it. I think it's pulling as much and as dark a...
I've ordered livestock from FFE and everything went according to plan and everyone was healthy and happy. 10
I've ordered dry goods from Jeff's and got great service and DIRT CHEAP prices. Plus free shipping so I have to give them a 10
I've also ordered dry goods from Petwarehouse (now Dr...
Hi all,
I posted this question at rcentral yesterday but got no response. Hopefully, someone here can help me. I've got a 35g. hex and am buying a 55g tank. I currently have one tank raised clown (with a flame hawk and 6line) in my 35g. I'd like to get another one (tr ocellaris) for the 55. If...
FWIW - I've got a 35g with arc eyed hawk, 6 line wrasse, purple firefish, and an ocellaris..... they all get along well with my corals... frogspawn, leather, torch, and hammer... the clown and firefish are my favorites
I've got 2x28 w in a 35 g hex (24" deep) and I've got a torch, hammer, frogspawn, and toadstool leather thriving! I bought the hammer partially receded from the LFS and it's growing back into the area it had receded. All seem to be doing real well.
I bought a really nice frogspawn at this awesome LFS in Mesa, Arizona.... Kudos to Aquarium Arts... a lot of LFS' have bad raps but this store is awesome (no I don't work there or get kickbacks!) I'll post a pic on Mon
Wait a day or two.... Once mine disappeared for a full day... at least 24hours and then the next day he was back in front of his rock like normal.... they're really good at hiding so even if you lifted all of the rocks he could still be there. Good luck!
Thanks Ninong..... I wasn't 100 percent sure because most of what I'd seen of Dendronepthya has some white and this was nothing but bright red.... Guess I'll stay away.
Hello all,
I was in the LFS yesterday and they had a shipment of what they called "Strawberry Coral." The owner and all knowledgeble one wasn't in but one of the employees said he had it in his tank and that it preferred to be under shade and in a high flow area.... He didn't know the latin...
I've got renter's insurance and although I haven't had to use it it's well worth the extra couple of bucks a month. It will protect against more than just water damage.... check into it.
When I started out.... I had a FO system.... My alk was always around 14 - 15 dkH. When I switched it over to reef and started dosing with liquid calcium it finally dropped down to 11.8. It's stayed there ever since and I haven't ever had to add a buffer. Why? I don't know... Know one has ever...
Kudos to you for accomplishing something difficult. Which goes to show... no matter how much you read everything and every situation is different. Glad you didn't get flamed.
I do a 3 gal change every Saturday in my 35 g. I mix the new salt on Sunday and let it agitate with a powerhead the whole week. I do this because I read (r. fenner) it's best to age the water. Don't think it hurts.
