Depending on the size of the vent I took a piece of ridged air line tubing and stuck it in the hole so it's 2" Above I don't get salt creep blocking my vent hole

Did you dismantle the wet side completely, I.e take the nut off the threaded shaft, pull the ceramic bushing out ? If you don't put the ceramic bushing and spacer and clear nylon washer back correctly it can hang up. Also if you don't put the nut on the threaded shaft all the way their will be...
