  1. I have baby something swimming in my tank

They are too small to tell if they are mysis shrimp. Probably wont stick around long enough to develop into anything, though. If they are hermits I'm gonna need some small shells. Bob *
  2. I have baby something swimming in my tank

I was looking at my tank this morning before work and I noticed these things swimming around. They look like tadpoles, they are all white and are about 1/16 long. They are alive because I witnessed them wagging their tails trying to swim. I have 1 maroon clown, 1 watchman goby, a peppermint...
  3. Great Reef Store in MA

It just goes to show you how far people will travel to get good advice and quality livestock. When you invest all your time and money on your reef tank only to add a sick fish or get bad advice from an unknowledgeable lfs owner it can be frustrating. Even though I am a beginner, coral reef...
  4. anyone ever tried to breed and raise shrimp?

I was wondering if it was possible and if there were any tips or tricks to doing so. I would be interested in breeding skunk cleaners. Thanks, Bob
  5. Your favorite tip or trick...

This one is for working with PVC. When cutting PVC pipe with PVC pipe cutters, pierce the pipe with the blade until it passes the inside wall. Then twist the pipe in a circle. It will cut a straight line every time, no matter how short the piece is you are cutting. Bob

  8. adding live sand to established tank?

I definitely have enough sand in my tank, but any part of it that is alive got that way from the live rock. So, I doubt there are any "critters" in my sand.
  9. adding live sand to established tank?

I have a 55 gallon that I started 2 months ago. I have about 5 inches of southdown sand and some live rock. Is it too late to add live sand? If not how should I add it? My tank has a dozen snails, two dozen hermits, a peppermint shrimp, maroon clown, and yellow watchman goby. Thanks, Bob
  10. AMIRACLE overflow is noisy

I have never heard of a "burp tube". Is this something I can make myself? Thanks Bob
  11. AMIRACLE overflow is noisy

Has anyone modified this overflow to make it quiet? After I removed the filter media I can't get it to run quiet. I tried the Durso mod but I didn't have any luck. I am only using this wet/dry as a way to skim the surface of my 55 gallon. TIA Bob
  12. something must eat brissle worms, No?

My tank is very well populated with these small worms. They are not causing any problems at the moment but I'm worried they might get bigger and out of control. Any population management suggestions?
  13. Is the Ebo-Jager TS submersible?

According to the manual's illustration, the heater's temp control is shown above the water level. Does anyone use this heater fully submersed. It doesn't say that it is submersible anywhere. It is a 250 Watt Thanks
  14. Any good MO closer to New England?

Most of the good ones I have found seem to be in California. I would rather, not, have to wait over a week for a UPS ground shipment.
