I am pretty sure that zooxanthellae produce predominantly brown. The other pigments are actually part of the coral, not the symbiotic algae. Too much light, or a change to more light will usually cause increased brown. If too much, the coral attempts to re-establish homeostasis by expelling...

aren't those stony corals? Chances are, one 55 watt will suffice.

You moved it down to the bottom right? Is it trachyphyllia (cone-shaped base) or Wesophyllia? I hear many keep the trachs down low. My trachyphyllia does ok midheight. It opens its mouth when fed, and often has white tentacles out in the morning. I feed esv phytoplankton. Hey let us know how...

It could be (4 month newbie here) that they are getting too much light. Too much light will increase the zooxanthellae they contain. Zooxanthellae produce brown pigment.

My plerogyra hasn't expanded today, just a cupla little dark bubbles. Some white stuff coming out too. Is this really bad? All my other corals are fine. I did recently add a frogspawn and a sarcophyton the week before. They, the trachyphyllia, the mushrooms and the green buttons are all ok...
