  1. Going fishing...need advice

I have never had a goby so I dont know if they will fall for it or not, but try taking a plastic pop(soda) bottle and cutting the top 1/3 off and turning it around and putting the cap part inside the bottle. Put some food inside of it and see if it will go inside. Once it does, pick up the...
  2. Clicking is freaking me out!

I have read that clownfish can make a clicking noise as well as some triggers. Not sure what you have in your tank, but it could be a fish as well. --Andy
  3. LFS WHAT DID YOU GET THIS WEEKEND?

Well..we were pratically given a 15 gallon tank and a Blue Lined Trigger. After checking into this species I realized we needed a bigger tank. In search of something cheap (hahahaha), we went to a local store and wound up walking out with a 150 gallon aquarium. I was a little bummed at first...
  4. NiteLight

I bought two small light bulbs, a couple of sockets etc from a hardware store and wired one up myself for about $15. Pretty easy and is just the right amount of light. I threw it on a timer so it comes on about 10-15 minutes before the VHO's go out. --Andy
  5. Thinking of replacing wet/dry with refugium sump in my 75, n

You can also just as easily find a 15 or 20 gallon tank, seperate it into compartments and do it this way. That is what I am trying to do, unfortunately my limitation at the moment is that the stand does not have a wide enough opening to slide even a 10 gallon into. So I am looking for something...
  6. SOUTHDOWN PROBLEMS?????????

Makes me glad I used CaribSea! -Andy
  7. Where's the best place to buy corals? Or get frags?

I have always purchased my stuff from a place called Tropicorium. They are the world's largest facility according to FAMA. Check out their website and give them a call. http://www.tropicorium.com I know they had a special 9 for $99 but I am not sure if that was for mail order or walk-ins. --Andy

  9. What is desired oxygen and nitrate level in Jaubert Plenum ?

So should I remove the uplift tubes and fill them in, thus giving me essentially a DSB with a plenum under it? I think I have about 4" or so of CaribSea special grade as a substrate right now. What do you all think? Right now I dont have any other filter other than the UGF. I have an old wet/dry...
  10. What is desired oxygen and nitrate level in Jaubert Plenum ?

This limits the nutrients reaching the system and, thus, limiting the amount bacterial metabolism, and compromising dissolution of hermatypic ions from the breakdown of the aragonitic sandbed. Yeah..what he said I too have a plenum. I was told to have 2 power heads on my uplift tubes (from...
  11. what bulbs for getting moon effect ?

I went to the local hardware store, bought two standard light bulb mounts with screws to connect electricity, two blue party builbs, some electrical cord and a plug. I wired the two bulb mounts together, then from the one I ran the electrical cable and attached the plug. I mounted them inside my...
  12. Detroit Area Aquarists

I am going to create a website where members from cities can signup, starting with the detroit area, that will have online chat for meetings and a trading post for local people. Essentially when you signup for the membership (initially free) we can work that out as the first chapter afterwards...
  13. Detroit Area Aquarists

How many folks out there are from the Detroit area? I am looking at either starting or joining a local MASNA chapter or something similar. I was also thinking about maybe creating an entire online organization where meetings could be held online. These are just ideas, but I would like to see how...
  14. Power head for 72gl. reef tank?????

I have a standard 70 gallon and use 3 Hagen 402's. One on each side and one in the middle. I point the ones on the side towards the center and the center one to the right to help create some cross current. I also put them at different heights to create current throughout the tank. I then have a...
  15. anyboby using this VHO brand

If UltraLife is the same company I am thinking of they also make an RO/DI unit. I purchased this unit about 6 months ago and have had no problems with it. I have not used any of their equipment other than that, I would fork out the extra $50 or so for the IceCap ballast (660). I think I paid...
