Saw your question on stoops718's fluval edge thread and my build is almost identical except it is the 6-gallon version. I also have the AC 50 and AI nano and just finished cutting/sanding the back spine to accomodate the larger filter. I am now in the process of mounting the AI nano and wanted to ask you how you managed this. Three issues I need to overcome and I am hoping you can answer:
1) the light plugin is awfully close to the AC 50 return. How do you prevent moisture/salt creep from entering this connection and the two "data" ports?
2) it looks like I won't be able to use the touch controls on the front of the AI nano when I mount it inside the hood. But I do have the controller so I'm hoping I can completely control the lights via the display interface?
3) power cord routing- with such a snug fit around the AC 50, what mods did you make to route your cords? I'll have cords for AI nano, submersible light, heater, ATO and temp probe.
