1. MH height above water

I plan on building a new hood for my 90 to house dual 400 watt halides. I plan on keeping them about 7" away from them surface. The main reason to keep them higher above the water is so that inadvertent splashes don't hit the hot bulb and cause them to break. Kenny
2. Finally! A deal close to me!

I have heard stories on the boards about people getting deals that I thought were too good to be true. Well, it finally happened to me. A fellow reefer about 10 minutes away called me up last night and asked me if I would "take his live rock off his hands" ashe has decided to tear down his...

Post the complete list again, please. I am getting confused...
4. CO^2 Regulators

It seems that there is quite a price difference between regulators from pet supply stores and regulators offered for industrial use. Is there much difference, it any at all between these? They seem to be fairly similar, although I do not know enough about this to say one way or the other. Kendall
5. Fluidized bed as a Calcium Reactor

I think I am going to give it a try. It might take me a while, but I'll try to post the finished product when I get it done. Kendall
6. Fluidized bed as a Calcium Reactor

I have an FB 600 fluidized bed by Lifegard that I am thinking of converting to a calcium reactor. Has anybody done this? The flidized bed already operates on the same concept. Water is circulated through it with a dedicated powerhead. If I replace the sand media in it now with some calcium...
7. Battery Powered Air Pumps - Cheap!

Here is a link to some cheap air pumps for sale on e-bay for $1.50 each if anyone is interested. Not a bad price if they are a decent air pump. Does anyone know anything about these pumps? I would surely think they would be worth $1.50, but then again, maybe not. Kendall
8. VHO vs. Metal Halide Debate

I was looking at Champion Lighting's web site and notice that they have an awesome looking 180 reef tank that packed full of xenia and SPS corals. To my suprise, it is lit with only with four 72" VHO lamps. I was expecting to see halides and the whole ball of wax! Is this typical performance...
9. Attention Minnesota Reefers

Thanks for the heads up Graham. That's too bad. For a city that size you would expect a little more quality and selection. Maybe we will take your advice and move our trip east instead of north!
10. Attention Minnesota Reefers

My wife and I are planning a trip to the Minneapolis area to check out some fish stores. Being from Iowa, our selection is kind of limited. We could use your help in locating what you think are some of the better stores in the area. Let us know what you recommend. Thanks in advance! Kendall
11. Dimmable Flourescents!

I think it would be a great idea! I could use a setup like that for moonlight simulation. I would like it to get brighter right before my VHO's come on and then it could shut off during the entire day. Before my VHO's turn off, the dimmable flourescent would come on at full power and...
12. pre-plumbed vs. H.O.T. overflow reliability

Fishfarmer is absolutely right! I have a CS50 and also thought the world of it when it was new, and now it is just so, so. I would much rather have a preplumbed tank. I have an All-Glass 90 gallon reef ready with their Twin-Flo overflo and love it. Another suggestion would be that if you are...
13. Converting 90 Gallon FW to Reef - - Ideas Wanted

I am going to be converting over my 90 gallon cichlid tank to a reef tank and was looking for some ideas or pics of some established tanks. It is an All-Glass reef ready tank with a 29 gallon sump. I was wondering what some of you might use for successful lighting and any refugiums or other...

quote:
1. If you ever wanna do some cleaning in the tank such as siphoning flatworms, or deitritus, without having to do a water change just take a 3/8" or 1/4" tubing and place a fine micron bag over one end of it and...
