I've got a Iwaki MD30RLXT @ about 4 1/2 feet. I was thinking of splitting the return into the 55, have one in each back corner.

I am planning on using vinyl tubing, for the flexiblility, ease of installation, and to minimize the angled restrictions. Any good reasons why I should stay away from the vinyl?? I also see a lot of people using what looks like the ball socket joint tubing, and some using plain ol PVC as return...

I isolated and caught a small mantis ~1.5" six months ago. After addition of more LR, over the last two weeks, I just noticed a few small (1/8" maybe longer) critters flying around. The only reason I bring up the mantis was is speed, these new little guys move about as fast as my old menace...

Couple of reasons, in addition to Chaotic's points: When shooting for 10 -20x gph flow, I do not want to subject my fauna to so much current. I would imagine it's harder to keep everything in place too (calp, sand, LR rubble). I like the idea that more of the pods, worms, and algae, would not...

I am amidst my sump & refugium design, looking for a little direction. I am planning to split the overflow, to allow some water to enter directly into the refugium, and the majority to flow right into the sump. My question is about the return, as I am only running one pump, how should I...

I would like to purchase a circulation pump for the new sump design, and I cannot find a solid choice. The Iwaki's are great pumps, too loud..... Velocity makes an excellent pump as well, too much heat...... Dolphin sounds nice, little too much flow for a 55...... Any others?? Guess I am...

I've seen this with a few of my snails as well, releasing gamets. I would like to hope this could be something similar, but I'm afraid it's not.
