curious to know if you'all use a mechanical filter on your reef tanks? i have a sump with macro in it and a small filter pad that water passes though, but no specific mechanical filter ie like a fluval or something whats the going thoughts on that? thanks thomas

hi, just bought a bucket of red sea salt (on sale and didn't sound any worse then crappy instant ocean i was using) and it says to mix 1.4 pounds to 5 gallons of water, thats great, of course measure it with salt meter but can someone tell me what amount is 1.4 pounds? ie in cups of red sea...

i need to resilicon my sump with new baffels i just got a new protien skimmer and i was wonder what silicon to use, is the ge silicon 1 ok to use on aquariums? is there another product i can buy a like home depot or something, the aquarium store sells a product for 31 dollars a tube im sure it...

on the note of skimmers i just had mine replaced from the store, its now a octopus NW200 and I LOVE IT, its virtually silent, i hear some of the return water when my sump lvl is low (least untill the auto top off kicks in) then i can't hear much over the small fans i have for the hood.
