I have an older 250W IceCap ballast which, according to IceCap, will run pretty much any (non-HQI) 10k bulb. I was thinking about getting one of the CoralVue bulbs that Premium Aquatics is selling. Does anyone have experience with one of these on an IceCap?
You certainly can find something cheaper!
I use one of the 65W Lights of America fixtures from Home Depot. Do a forum search for LoA and you should find lots of info, and lots of praise.
Other than that, I'm sure that the plant grow-light would work, but I'd be sceptical of the regular...
Hmmmm . . .
Cutting it would be quite an operation. Its rooted very deep in the tank, for one thing. I'm also not possitive that the mouth is in anyway unformed. Its *very* close to the edge of the anemone, but it seems to be fully formed. I'll try to take a picture today after work, it...
I have a rose anemone that has split several times for me. One of them, however, seems to want to split but just . . . won't. It looks to have split from one side up to the mouth, so there are two large "lobes" with the mouth very close to the edge. The whole thing is hearth shaped, and when...
Hey all, I got in on the power buy for a magnavore IV, and hopefully a few of you did too!
Has anyone gotten word on whether or not they've shipped yet? I'm pretty sure that I was charged for it last weekend, so I expected to hear something by now . . .
I've heard that ball bearing fans aren't necessarily quieter than sleeve bearing fans. I've also heard that they tend to get much louder with age.
Generally speaking, you want to get larger fans, as they don't have to rotate as fast to push the same amount of air as a smaller fan. The icecap...
It doesn't take very long at all. IME, its not a gradual thing. Usually it starts, within about 1 hour its possitioned it self over the edge of a rock and has started tearing, and in 10 minutes its all over. Really quick, considering the timescale we're all used to with coral propogation.
Another option would be to go EVEN BIGGER, to a 90 gal. When I bought my 75 I could have gone with a 90 for $50 more (maybe not even that much, I can't remember) but I didn't. I really wish I had. The 90 is the same width (48") and depth (18") but is a full 4" higher (24").
Getting a taller...
The harmonic effect is mostly a function of the mass of the blade assembly. If you increased the mass, the frequency of the oscillations would shift, and the harmonic would likely stop. Try taping a small weight to the center of one of fans (the rotating side) to see if that works. If it...
I considered getting a trap, but in the end I decided to just remove the rock from my tank. I didn't really want to do it, but considering the fact that I was also trying to remove two domino damsels and that I also didn't really have very many corals to move, I came to the conclusion that it...
