i do...its only in one corner. its not so bad...just microbubbles get stuck in it and looks gross.

any ideas what it is? its basically colorless..but i can see a fine line where it starts. it annoys me..cause my water is super clean except for this funk

and everynow and then i have to take off a powerhead and let it splash around this corner of the waters surface.

any ideas how to get rid of this mystery gunk?

Dissolved organics - basically what your skimmer should be removing. The way to get rid of it is to a) skim more b) create more surface agitation i.e. permanently mount a ph to agitate the water surface to put that stuff back into solution so that the skimmer can remove it.

MickAv8r, if it is "dissolved" organics, it won't be floating on the top, don't you think? :p ;)

Seriously, the recommandation that people gave above will get rid of it. If you want a quick and easy method, use a piece of paper towel, and put it on the top of the organic film. The film will stick to the paper, and you can remove it right away. However, you really need to address the agitation issue, since the film will surely come back in a couple of days.

What David said. If your skimmer doesn't remove
it with improved agitation, it might be time to improve your skimming.

my skimmers is great...i put an air pump and a kent nautilus..and it instantly started workin at least 3 times as good. i have to clean my cup out a lot more often. the water is crystal clear and the skimmate is really dirty/dark/stinky. i think ive just created a little pocket of stagnant water. i already have 3 802 power heads....haha its ganna be pretty windy in there with another

You don't have to put in more powerheads (most likely). Just take one that points more or less in the same direction and angle it slightly upwards.
