I know of some cities on our west coast, where the tap water is extremely low in tds. I suppose one could use it for certain tanks or even reefs, with some filtering. As others mentioned, most are not like that. Even in our own city here, the newer section has a tds reading of 200 to 300...

The Aquarium Fish International that still includes a Fama section in it, is not to bad. I still had a few issues left after they took over. Impressed me enough to renew. I find it makes good reading for doctor waiting rooms and the such. :lol:

Nothing wrong with running the supplemental for 12 but perhaps could cut the halides back to 8 hrs. tops. I know of some, {with good supplementals} only running halides 5 to 6 hrs. on full blown sps tanks. Mine runs 9 hrs. but is only a 150w HQI and no actinics.

The o2 would for sure be done and ph but nothing a powerhead cant turn over. Just get a good surface boil going in the container or the airstone as suggested. Mines usually mixed up to a week in advance in salt buckets and sits with the lid on. I dont leave the powerhead running all week but...
