I do about 25% once a year, top off with kalk/RO. I dose Kent Tech Iodine, Lugols, mg I have no unwanted algae growing in my main tank but I have a large fuge with lots of macro. My Nitrates are thru the roof but everything else is normal.

If you want the best, buy a Tunze Osmolator. I swear by this system, cleaned the sensor once a year. Had it running for about 3 years. The system uses an optical sensor which will detect if i remove a cup of water from my 125gal. Its expensive, thats the only downside to it.

I just got a 900VA UPS for $65 at microcenter. Runs my 35watt canister filter for almost 2 hours. Def. worth the investment.

I only buy Euroreef skimmers but their new "quick" connect union is such a PITA. If you buy euroreef make sure you get one with the old style, zero clearance, screw off union.

I have used them in the past. They are voracious eaters and need alot of food to survive, ie: hair algae, cyano, etc. I still prefer the giant mexican turbo snails. Tom at islandreefs should be able to get you anything you want. I buy most of livestock and stuff from him.
