It is not bacteria. It is disolved organics that your skimmer is not getting to because it is collecting on the surface of the water. You need a surface skimmer as well as pointing power heads towards the surface of the water to break it up. It will block proper oxygen exchange. HTH, c

Terrence, Here is something for you to consider. I use mirrors on the back of my tanks. I get a mirror cut to fit the back of the tank and silicone it on with clear silicone. For the most part it looks black but it gives the tank more depth. If I knew how to attach a pic, I would. c
