  1. Celebrating my reefs 2nd anniversery, comments??

Well, that is where the buddha came from (notice the straw hole in his belly). And you never see people putting "unnatrual" decorations in their reefs. My goal was to get him encrusted in coraline (unfortunately the urchine hanging out in the back keeps scraping it off). It also provides a...
  2. Celebrating my reefs 2nd anniversery, comments??

and finally here is my humble beginnings 2 years ago. The buddha was my initial inspiration that I needed to do a reef tank (my zen garden) thanks everyone for 2 wonderful years ~Terry
  3. Celebrating my reefs 2nd anniversery, comments??

And I've made my mistakes along the way (and have already taken my share of flaming overthem, which was fine because I learned from them). This photo was taken a year ago (and as a subnote, he was moved to a friends tank and is still doing great to this day... not that I recommend them).
  4. Celebrating my reefs 2nd anniversery, comments??

and here it was about 3 months ago
  5. Celebrating my reefs 2nd anniversery, comments??

I've come along way with my tank and I just want to take a moment to thank everyone on this board and reefcentral. Without you guys, this wouldnt have been possible. So here is alittle photo tour of my tanks progress. heres where I am now. I am just finishing up college so the other week I...
  6. Want to change background color !!

expect to use 5 or 6 razor blades. they dull very quickly (after a small portion of the tanks, get a new one, otherwise its easy to scratch the glass). I cleaned off my 46g last week, and it only took about 15 mintues. I was really easy. Dont use chemicals!
  7. Clowns and anemone

I just removed my carpet from my tank about a month ago. I loved it but it became half the size of the tank (which is fine, he has a great home now). Roaming isnt too much of a problem as long as you take a few steps. 1st, mine liked to surround himself with rocks, 2nd they have a very...
  8. will this idea be worth it..please read

Well I've sort of had my own ideas for how to work this floating about in my head. I know you can buy a car battery with an attachment that allows you to plug in a few cords. Why dont you just make a kit out of this that senses when current is no longer availible in the circuit and then turn...
  9. how to feed carpet anenome?

I agree that you dont have to feed them often. I have a foot and a halfer. and I only feed him every couple weeks. Your right, some foods are hard to feed to him. Typically I give him a peice of smelt soaked in Selcon. I ran out of smelt the other week so last night I tried something...
  10. Heaters for large tanks

you could get a couple lifeguard heater moduals and run them inline with your system. If your worried about even heating, that seems like the most logical way to address the problem. ~Terry
  11. Powersweep by ZooMed??

I have 3 in my 46gal. ones been running for about a year now and the other 2 about 10 months or so. Your right they are not the most powerful powerheads on the market and yes you should be cleaning off the impeller every few months to keep its lifespan up (although I'm a hippocrite, havent...
  12. Coral Banded Shrimp and other shrimp....

I've had a coral banded in my 46g tank for almost a year now. ya he can be a real SOB sometimes. I've only tried adding one other shrimp with him about 6 months ago.I had never seen him since I added him to the tank (assumed dead). And then a few weeks ago I saw him for about 2 seconds. So I...
  13. LFS selling a Banded Shark Egg, Is he safe in my reef??

I'd rather see a shark egg sold for 30 bucks by a complete moron and do the research myself than pay a couple hundred if he was an astrophysicist who knew what he was doing. I'd worry more about the egg actually hatching. And if it does, they arent easy to feed.
  14. How many of us dive?

never, I'm scared to death of water and boats. Thats why I bring it home.
  15. NW Chicago Need new source for Co2 refills

Osama, I have CO2 tanks I need to refill every month for my houses keggerator. Go to a bar supply store. I cant remember the ones in the NW off hand but you may want to give Binny's Liqour Depot a call in Des Plains. Thats only about 10 minutes from you. Theres also a Binny's off of golf...
