hi guys, i've been having problems feeding a carpet anenome that i just recently aquired. my two clowns are loving the carpet and have made it their home. but the problem is that everytime i try to feed the anenome shrimp or other meaty foods, it just lets it go away. any suggestions on what to do? the clowns are also a pain in the butt cause they keep nipping at me for trying to feed the anenome.

1. Is your Anenome looking drab, losing color, or reacting badly in some way?

2. What lighting do you have on what size tank?
Anenomes get most of their food from light,
in fact I haven't fed anything more than a little brine from time to time.

3. Be VERY CAREFUL you don't overfeed your tank by constantly putting large pieces of food in the tank.
Some of the info out on the net and on this board (with research to back it up) says that many people lose their anenomes from either
bad lighting/water or overfeeding leading to bad water quality.

Please don't take this as a flame, the carpet has the reputation to be a hardy fellow, just keep an eye on water quality, keep your lighting high, and just watch out for overfeeding.

Noone can say this enough, research, research, research. the net has some excellent info out there.

I agree that you dont have to feed them often. I have a foot and a halfer. and I only feed him every couple weeks. Your right, some foods are hard to feed to him. Typically I give him a peice of smelt soaked in Selcon. I ran out of smelt the other week so last night I tried something different that he really seemed to like. I simply took 2 cubes of frozen variety pack and since he wouldnt hold on to them (because the outer layer of the cube would stick and the rest of the cube would break off and float to the top). So I just sort of rubbed the cubes all over him and broke them up a bit. He seemed to thouroughly enjoy it.
