Baby Clownfish - New York Born and Bred
Brief intro. from the proud daddy, Josh.
"These are captive born and bred ocellaris clownfish (false perculas). They are approximately 10 weeks old and were raised from eggs to their current size. They are very healthy, eat a ton, and are super cute.
They are Yankees and Giants fans. You can try to wean them onto the Mets or Jets but do so at your own discretion.
Right now they are eating cyclopeeze, Nutramar OVA, Arctipods, and Otohime (a special weaning food in pellet form), you can use a very small pellet food or crushed flakes if you cannot use any of the above. If you continue to feed them cyclopeeze, they will turn a very rich red color in about 2 weeks.
Around this time they may develop a minor case of ich for a period of one week. That is fairly normal for clowns at this age and feeding them a healthy and rich diet (cyclopeeze is best) will reduce the chance of this occurring. It is non-contagious, you do not need to quarantine them during this period, you do NOT need to feed them garlic or Kick Ich or anything like that. It is normal and should pass in 4-7 days.
They are non-aggressive. They should not go into tanks with large fish or major predators. They have not developed sex organs so if you place them with another clown they will most likely pair up. They will not be sexually active until they are one year old. Larger clowns may show some aggressive behavior to them but that is just sexual dominance and behavior based.
They are a hosting anemonefish and will take just about anything for a home. We've seen them settle in torch corals, frogspawns, zoanthids, just about anything soft will do.
Enjoy them and give them a nice home. For any additional questions feel free to contact "josh" at manhattanreefs.com."
