http://www.nytimes.com/2010/08/19/garden/19aqua.html?_r=3&hp

"Joseph Caparatta, owner of Manhattan Aquariums, which sells tanks small and large from a showroom on West 37th Street, said that, increasingly, ?Most of the jobs we get come from architects and designers who have to fill a 6,000- or 7,000-square-foot apartment.?

It was Mr. Caparatta who suspended a 700-gallon aquarium from the ceiling of a town house apartment in the West Village owned by Richard Wise and Andre Jones. The filled tank weighs at least 6,000 pounds and has cost the couple some $200,000 in equipment and service."

I agree and that aquarium sounds much better than the koi tank with variable lighting that they kept mentioning. Well done fellas your shop and service is top notch.

I find it funny that they make the hobby seem like it is only for the most wealthy individuals.

We should all be grateful for those extreme setups. Most reef specialty stores do not make enough from our business to keep their doors open. It is their service business that truly puts them in the black. Nothing like a steady stream of monthly income. That helps keep their prices completive especially when they have to compete with Mail order/web sites. So thanks guys for doing what you do! Keep setting up those monster tanks.
