I started my first reef tank with few Zoas and few mushrooms with two other LPS. I lost interest as soon I saw All SPS reef tank. I was fascinated and only had interest SPS from there on. Sorry but I knew all I wanted was SPS. Why ? I just like color sticks I guess. . How about you... SPS or LPS or mix....

well, originally, I despised SPS because they looked like colorful bones. Very eerie and sketch.

And same for zoas because they didn't do anything, no swaying motion etc.

I only had eyes for LPS. I could feed them. They had long tentacles to sway in the current, etc.

But now...I don't know what happened.

Now i WANT sps. and Zoas. I think it's the colors and the difficulty involved.
To get and keep good color you need to have really good parameters and husbandry.

At the very least it is difficult to stay consistent.

Zoas and sps can be brown. They can grow a ton...but be brown and unsightly.

But good, consistent care can ensure they are always bright.

Folks I've seen with great growth, but poor care/consistency, have had brown tanks/dull colors.

I want to go for vibrancy. I hope to do that with any coral type.
