Controlling thin bar xenia

My thin bar xenia has doubled in just over a month. I was wondering what is the best way to controll this stuff. Can I surround it with something, like lr, and then remove the lr? Is there any coral that I can surround it with that will inhibit its growth but otherwise not damage either coral? Is the best solution just to trim the stalks and remove them, kind of like edging a yard?!?

Place small pieces of rock around its base, it'll quickly spread onto it. Then sell them to your LFS (or send me some)
