From a critique of Samuel Becketts Waiting for MAC fish...I mean Godot"

The act of waiting is never over, and yet it mysteriously starts up again each day. The action, in the same way, describes a circle. Each day is the return to the beginning. Nothing is completed because nothing can be completed.
The despair in the play, which is never defined as such but which pervades all the lack of action and gives the play its metaphysical color, is the fact that the two tramps cannot not wait for Godot, and the corollary fact that he cannot come....

clkohly, nope, don't know wayne....
CF,
MAC is certainly not "against" aquaculture.
vitz, nice to see you again. you haven't aged a bit.... everyone in the coc is generally making a higher margin. and the good news: even the collectors! there are newly certified co's in EU now and they are beginning to get the fish.
Steve,
The Euro thing is only one reason for the minimal supply... you know the some of the other reasons but only state the negative. I must say, you are a master debater......

and lastly for today, (you're all going to love this one) There are now also fish available to the US again...... I could post a list but it's a bit long...

Hi CF, do you mean the "F" word as in farmin? which actually takes away from the livelyhood of poor tropical coastal dwellers?
Mark

Thanxs Mark,
It sure looks like that here.
*imo*
Other than what is says, what were you implying?*if anything*
Cause after I read that, I felt no desire to try to over look all the other comments I've read here about MAC, and find possitives.

And you can rest assured, that no one here is on my team either.*imo*

Mark,
Please go ahead and post the list. We don't mind if it is long and RDO has plenty of bandwidth.

Steve--

You're such a drama queen.

Mark--

You should know better than to pop in here and make a claim to have such long awaited information as a "list of MAC certified fish now available to the US", but then with hold it. Don't forget that there are many interested parties that lurk without posting who would love to get the info.

The drama is there.
Never has so much...
been spent over such time...
to produce so little...
Mark, you have barred gobies coming again? Chelmons? Half black angels? What??

The list is important because it will tell us things that you may not know of. For example, is it a subsidized situation from the Mindinao CIA deal?
Is it junk-fish from Camotes....?
Has the buhol connection been wooed back with carrots and candy....what?
Marks job last year was to go back and get some fish flowing.
In a year he may have finally done something to give MAC the illusion of life...
Mind you...a year is time to get a thousand divers trained and producing.

This issue and program is anchored in the conversion of cyanide fisherman.
If they were first converted to sustainable methods, [ ie. if the cart were put before the horse ] so much of the negativity generated here would vanish. If they were trained to netsmanship, then there would be so much that could then pile on that initial, fundamental achievement.

However, the MAC budget put so little priority on this as to regard it as trivial. The rest of the budgets were anchored on the village issues yet proceed as if they were resolved.

Just how important could the training of fisherman be regarded if so little is spent on it and achieved with it?
Its 2005 and the % of poison fisherman delt with by MAC reflects it as a low priority. Either that or they are at a loss as to how to deal with it given their different skills.

For what it's worth.....Mark has asked us as a Mac certified wholesaler to help by asking our suppliers in the PI and Bali if they can provide us with Mac certified fish. This will obviously create a demand for the Mac fish and show our suppliers that we are interested in having those fish.

We have done so mererly two weeks ago and should start seeing some Mac fish in our facility soon. We already have Mac certified live rock from Fiji and it has been received well by our customers.

I see it as only a matter of time before more Mac fish are in the mainstream of our availability. Then we can start to track the quality comparisons and have some solid basis to market the Mac fish as superior to our other suppliers and fish we trade in. Even if equal quality, we can suggest Mac fish as a more ethical fish.

As being one of the larger Mac certified wholesalers, we are not dissapointed with Mac's efforts thus far as we have very realistic expectations and know first hand what it takes to achieve the goals that Mac is striving for.....so take it easy on the guys....the job they are working on is not a simple one and I personally thank those making the sacrifices and bettering our industry.

Best regards,

Eric

Eric...I had a long discussion about the trade, years ago, with you over the phone, you seemed like a cool, calm, collected, down to earth dude.

you probably don't even remember me but, I like your style :D

not switching religions or taking the Democratic or Republican side here, just want to give some input, heres a analogy I come up with to discribe my take on this problem,
we spend tax dollars on the war on drugs and never make a dent, they say, this is almost the same thing, imo, seems the more we spend the more the production increases, but that dont end, Nancy Regans cause

Lets ALL try to, brainstorm some new tactics, to try to, re-cap, the communication gap, that I have, sifting thru all the field slog, so I can strategize, my world take over, I mean world peace, please
I cant tell if I'm on differant, congress partys, religion or governments, here, so I can come up with potential plans of action for my future, new world

whats it call'd when most the world governments, come together to bump heads....I am serious, I can't think of the word and been, try'n

I have faith though in the reefs eternal existence, no matter what religion I choose...I mean country to live in...even if I have to be a kmakazi slogger
sorry  I'll be quite for awhile now.... all soely imo

how so, given that certification has NOTHING to do with whether or not the fish are cyanide collected ????
