I went to the LFS for some food and a couple of margarita snails and they had a new frag tank set up. I just wanted to have a look and ended up buying a couple of things. ...

I know that one is a birdsnest another is some kind of acropora the other two not too sure of ...

These are the two I dont know:
the flowery one I was told grows like zoas. The other one I think is a type of monti or maybe a chalice? Its a lemon lime color.

Twisted and Andy you are both right that first one is a stylophora, thats what I meant to write. I knew definitely what the first two are.

I think you are both right about the last one two. They had another one of those frags that was growing outward and upward like thick fingers. Its definitely not a tubinaria. Pretty sure now that its a yellow/green porites.

The other one I asked if it was a galaxia but the guy told me it was more like a type of zoa. When I got it home it has nothing similar to a zoa. I am concerned bc I know that galaxias have long sweeper tentacles? Where should I place this? Its really pretty for a $10 frag.

ChiefMcFuz, yes I upgraded to a 150W now. I knew the corals were going to respond well but I cant get over how much more happy my fish look and act too.

Marcellina, I thought those frags looked familiar. I will have to ask them why you got bad info on the Galaxia. It does have sweeper tentacles. I would keep the Galaxia out of the current then the sweeper's don't go as far. Glad you saw the new system

Ok thanks for the tip Andy. I have it right in front of my koralia so thats not a good place. How long has the new frag tank been setup? I havent been there in a quite a few weeks. It looks really nice I couldnt help myself from picking a couple of things up. Do you go there often?

Also, before you buy, research what the corals are and what their requirements are first. Many stores will tell you what you want to hear and not the absolute truth. In a 125 the sweepers of the galaxia aren't so long but in a 24 aquapod they can be huge! Also know the requirements before you buy as well. If you do your homework before you go to the store then you can avoid lots of problems.

LOL I cant imagine someone jumping down your throat for giving good advice.

The only one I wasnt sure of - but like I said I had a *feeling* - was the galaxia.

The others I knew were easy corals and good sps for beginners. If the galaxia gets bothersome in my tank I am sure I can find someone who has lots of room for it.

Sometimes people are asking for help and when you give advice from your own personal experience you get slapped in the face by someone.Good luck with your tank.
