I saw this tiny little bright green thing in my sand this morning. I looks like a couple of round balls of some sort? What can it be?

Looks like something from the Frogspawn. Maybe some tips got ripped off or fell off due to the coral splitting or another animal.

I would stop wondering what every little thing is right now and enjoy your tank. Cyano is about the only thing I would worry about aside from coral and fish death/illness. Things hitch in on frags and rocks, lots of changes occur over the years, just sit back and watch, do your tests, and make sure to do water changes on a steady and frequent basis. Mark it on your calendar and enjoy the tank.

LOL

Ok ok! :)

I only started to wonder about everything after my tank started getting a brown algae all over the walls and the rocks just seemed to get really dirty looking in less than a week.
That coupled with the ugly tunicates that is taking over my duncans and spreading on my LR.
Im new and just wondered if these other things might be symptons of something thats all.

I have a lot of hitchers all of which I was able to identify. The green thing had me stumped. I figured its better to ask a question than regret it later. The only stupid question is the one not asked my mom always told me.

I understand. But to make yourself crazy about this stuff is not a smart thing either. You should pick up the pocket expert guides, for Inverts and Marine fish. They will help you enormously. I use them on a daily basis.

the brown algae is normal for a new tank. It is diatom alage, from silacates in your water. I bugged out when i saw it too, and found out what it was. are you using ro wateR?

crxin I am using RO water. I do water changes weekly and whenever I see the parameters off a bit.

NYreefNoob, Thats too funny. Did your dad always say that life is like a box of chocolate too? :)

Tom I have a thread on here about the Duncans. Here is a picture if you dont want to look for it.

Its making the tissue on one of the Duncan heads recede. I talked to a medical personnel that works at a fish store I go too and he said that the tunicates are harmless and that they aid in bacteria filtration but they are fast spreaders. He told me how I can remove them if I want to and he said to bring them to the store so he could analze it for me and tell me if thats what they really are.

SUpposedly they had some tunicates for sale a couple of weeks ago. This one is so ugly and unappealing I doubt anyone wants it.
