any1 know what type of snail this is? its about 3-4mm

Looks like a cerith snail maybe.

thks for the info. i'm just making sure if my clams are in danger of pyramid snails. i dont wanna risk any chances.

They look similar in shape but pyramid snails are tiny in comparrison. Ceriths can be measured in centimeters, pyramids in millimeters. The photo below are pyramid snails in relation to the size of a dime:

Those snails on the dime are millimeters. There are 10 millimeters in one centimeter.

Your snail looked like the cerith snail I once had. I had hundreds of them in my 55. Harmless, but will breed like crazy.

Mine was all black.

ok, my mistake. i got cm and mm mix up. the ones i found are 3-4 mm. :tongue1:

i found a few near 1 of my clams. 1 was even on it. i took the precaution of any rid of them anyway. better safe than sorry.

Keep an eye on that clam and any starfish you may have. If they are pyramids, there's bound to be more in your tank. BTW six-Line wrasses will eat them.
