I'm not sure what this is. I got this rock in early August and it's been there since I first got it. It's difficult for me to say how much it has grown, or if it has grown at all.

It's an orange color, the color never varies at all. Doesn't glow under the night lights. Doesn't appear to have any polyps or pores but it does have some cracks. When I look at it, it makes me think of bubble gum stuck to the bottom of a desk from back in high school. It is a little bit spongy to the touch, almost like old bubble gum. Maybe it actually is bubble gum! haha.

I'm not even 100% certain that it's something alive. It could be a piece of plastic melted to the rock or something.

Yeah, thats what i was thinking too. It must be some sort of sponge. I was concerned about it being cyno, but its too thick and doesn't spread fast enough. He seems to be a cool guy so I'm not concerned about having him in my tank whatever it is. Glad to know you say its common. And he doesn't grow very fast so he's a cool guy.
