I recently purchased some live rock and these came along for the ride. I was told that one is Ricordea, and the other Yellow Polyps. Can someone confirm for me that it is Ricordea, and it's specific name.

I'm new to reef, if I need to take steps to insure continued health and growth, ie dosing calcium, location in the tank (light levels). I have 440w vho lights two 10k bulbs on for 10 hours/ two Actinics on for 12 hours.

Thanks in advance for the info. Mike

Here's the rock, measure's about 24" in length.

I believe there are some shrooms on top also, I haven't time to get into the tank to move things around.

Live Rock

Hey There Dig,
I bought the rock from a MR member that lives in your neighborhood. I knew the rock had some stuff on it before purchasing. I wanted the rock, everything else was the sugar on top.

I'm really new to Reefs, do you know if I should be adding anything to the water, calcium, etc.

I'm going to do some reading on proper levels, ph, alk, and that good stuff, but basically, I want to make sure that I'm atleast proving the proper nutrients so that everything survives.

Thanks

Must be Aaron's rock... very nice!

You should test your water before adding anything. Get some good calcium and alkalinity tests and check your water. Then you can decide if you need to dose 2 part or kalk or some other option.

That is a gorgeous ricordea yuma and nice yellow polyps. Neither needs strong light or dosing with calcium. Just keep up with your water changes.
