How to clean/kill the live rock of pests?

I'm planning to set up a new tank using my old rock. However, my old live rock right now has green hair algae, A LOT of bubble algae, red slime, etc etc you name it, its on there. I heard that live rock will carry on any pests and algae to any new tanks it is placed in.

Therefore, how do I "kill" it? I want the rock to be as clean as possible if that even is possible.

I've heard of rock cooking.
but the kind where you leave it in a container with no light.

You mean actually cook it as in a pot?

yeah cook it boil it till the rock turns white. u'll get rid of everything but then again u will kill everything good bac and bad bac aptasia etc remmember to use ro water.

Approximately how long would it take? about half an hour?

also, what do you mean by remember to use RO water? RO water to boil it in??

why not regular water from tap if the live rock is going to be stripped of any organisms?

Do not use RO, I will get super heated without any visual indications then blow up if your face when you attempt to put something in it. This happens because all of the minerals and elements have been stripped out of the water. I would use some sort of filtered tap water if this is not available then regular tap.

regular tap water contains alot of minerals lead/copper/clorine ect so think what going be left on the rock after cooking it just my op

ahh okay so thats the reason for using RO water for cooking

Hi another suggestion.Took a 2000psi power washwasher to live rock an then in a tub with 1.030 salt water (TAP) and skimmmer on it no light for two weeks and all was good Just another way

^not true at all! RO water will boil as normal at 100 degrees C.

Another suggestion, why not just leave the rocks out and let them dry out completely and then just recure them

That might take a long time no? Also, the insides of the rocks might still be wet for things to live inside em?

that would depend on the environment in which you are drying the rocks.
