First, it was my float switch which controls the top off got stuck when I was on the cruise to the bahamas. Fortunately, I have a 25GPD RO/DI instead of 100GPD which I switched to. It is also on a timer which only allows it to be on a few minutes per hour so even the float switch is on all the time, the RO/DI is not. When I got home, the sump had probably 15g of extra water and close to overflowing. the salinity got little messed up from 1.025 to 1.023.
Today, we had a short water outage. Normally, the sump will not overflow when the return pump is off b/c siphon break holes that I drilled on the return pipes. Due to lack of maintainence, they didn't work and when I went down to check the tank, the sump overflowed. I was watching it happened helplessly and quickly hooked up my python water vacuum to remove some water. fortunately, the power came back on and I only lost couple gallons of water.
Needless to say, I spend half of the day cleaning up and making sure everything is back on track.
