Hi all,

I have been out of the hobby for a year after keeping a 120 sps high tech tanck for a few years. Now, with a kid and work and less time, I am looking to start up a cube tank bigger than a nano (aroung 40 -60 gallons) dedicated to softies with the feature players being a rose anenome and family of percula clowns. Going to use pc's or t-5's? I would like not to use a chiller (room will have ac) and a HOB skimmer. Which skimmer do you recommend? lighting? wattage? where should I buy the acrylic cube/stand? I am hoping to get some good advice as I am not up on what is new. Also planning an HOB refugium. Perhaps I will go with MRC for most of the stuff. I live in a loft in the flatiron--would love to connect with this great online community...

First of all, welcome to Manhattan Reefs. We are all here to help, and dudes will make special trips to make sure you and your reef are taken care of, trust me, its been done, lol. Well since your going to have an anemone in your tank, I would say that you would def. need strong lighting. Ive tried keeping them under PC with mediocre results. I think T5's would def. be a better option, or go with metal halides (that is what I would go with). For a hang on skimmer, I would most definitely go with the Aqua C remora.

Andy,

Keep us posted on this. I recently aquired an Oceanic 30 Gal. cube which I was thinking of doing the very same thing with. I already have Lighting... a 174W or 240W MH, but may consider T5 after recently goinf T5 for my reef.
