If you read the Special Blend bottle it tells you on there about the Sulfide odor. If you pour it directly into your water ..and recap the bottle right away..the odor will be minimized.

Special Blend and Smart Start are not the same type of products. Special Blend will boost your bacterial level, not create it as it doesn't have all of the different types of bacteria in it that are needed for cycling.

Special Blend is not a chemical, it is a bottle of bacteria.

I also suggest getting the corals out of the tank and getting the tank stabilized.
Do keep in mind the corals that are now having issues may only just be showing their reaction to the original acan problem. Sometimes the 'original' damage to a coral is not noticeable as it is internal and it's death occurs a week or 2 later.

Used it to get rid of my cyano. Great product.

It can go bad though, according to the label. Shelf life of 12 months. I think as long as there is a bacterial build up on the walls of the bottle, its still good.

This is really good stuff based on my experience with it. I had the cyano bloom from hell and within a few weeks the cyano was reduced to a minimum and I will say that my maintenance never skipped a beat. SB was the only thing that changed.. Two thumbs up to this stuff.. It stinks like hell, but with proper maintenance,it works. It may take more or less time from tank to tank. A picture is better than words..
