do i need a rodi ?

Its not taking out the coper and other chemicals your are putting in the take like PO4 that alge feed on . so if you dont what a problem in the future get a RO/DI unit .

+1 Tank may look good now but give it time, all the PO4 and other nasty stuff gets absorbed in your sand and rock and will leach out over time and cause algae outbreaks. I have never seen a tank look good LONG term using tap water.

Keep in mind, in Queens you don't have chloramine, so don't waste your money on a chloramine filter stage.

I would definately invest in a rodi if I were you. In the mean time you are better off using distiller water from cvs. I used this distilled water for 5 years with no side effects. I finaly bought a rodi. $1.49 a gal distilled gets expensive. Stop using tap

I dont care were you live .Tap water has chemicals in it. So unless you have a filtering system in your house then you are fine if not . Good luck to you . There was a thread on here were the person needed help . His tank was being taking over by hair alge . And he was using tap water the hole time . we told him to get and RO/DI unit and didnt listen and the problem got worse . Long story short he got an RO/DI and thing are good now.

Thats the beging of high PO4 . you can get a phosban reactor and media . That will help with the PO4 until you get the RO/DI unit.
