Richie, how often have you checked your pH at 6-7am? Your pH drops every night when the lights are out. I'm trying to get a feel for what your readings are on the other mornings not after a party.

Thats dangerously low. Do you have a skimmer running? Are you running a calcium reactor?
A skimmer should keep water oxygenated and prevent the PH from going too low. A calcium reactor might have the co2 injecting too fast and dose really low PH water into your tank.. not to mention overdose

Yes I do have a skimmer and no I do not have a reactor there was about 10 of my brothers friends sleeping in there now everyone is up and out of room and went up from 7.30 to 7.53 I just had him open all windows and put fans on high wanna see if I get a nice air flow in there to see what happens i think there was a lot of co2 in the air so the tank wasn't getting a good source of air I just looked it up.... How can I prevent this in the futue?

Not have so many people sleeping next to the tank next time :lol2:
or open the windows
or if you need the windows closed, have an air pump outside with an air tube blowing at your skimmer air intake

Your party of 20 greatly contributed to CO2 spike in your room. Air your room really well and your pH should bounce back. Also check your Alk levels to make sure you have anough buffering capacity in your tank.

My tank does the same when I close windows and have the AC recycling air. I air the apartment in the morning keeping the door and windows open. This creates a great draft that displaces a lot of stale air.

If possible you can have your skimmer's air intake "plumbed" outside; that would also help.

I highly doubt that the people in your household contributed to the pH drop in the tank. Unless ALL of you are breathing directly over the tank... My tank's pH swings from 7.9-8.3 (light off/on) so if you have a lot of photosynthetic livestock in your tank, i would imagine the pH sways which also could mean, that your Alk is low and is unable to buffer the pH....
I would do some water change and that should straighten things out in the mean time.

You actually don't need to stand over your tank at all, you don't even need 20 people in the the room.

While there is a normal Ph drop between day and night cycle (hence people choosing reverse fuge light cycle) the drop will be far greater if you constantly keep your windows closed (or have a big party) I have a pinpoint meter and see these normal swings every day/night but when it dips I know I have to just open the windows and air it out. During winter months it is not a problem because the heat in the building is so outragous that we just keep all windows always open. In the summer, they remain shut most of the time because of AC. I just started using the A/C and sure enough the ph dips followed with it.

But you don't have to believe me, search google and see for yourself.

or you can just read the label on this product by two little fishes / julian sprung

the label tell you straight up "open the windows" i'll take a picture for you because most experts on here require some sort of proof. :irked:
