The Little Neck/Bayside area sucks pretty much. Fishtown treats their fish like crap. Even though its probably the most successful LFS in the area. And majority of the pricing is well.. overpriced lol.

The only pretty decent place to get healthy fish and some decent coral is Kissena Aquarium.

The owner is an Asian dude...and he doesn't really speak English well. But I guess it isn't too hard to communicate wanting to buy a particular fish he has in stock. Lol

But most of the "good" fish stores are either out in LI or in the city.
I hear lots of good things about Aqua Hut, which I believe is in Coram in LI.

Another great shop for coral specifically is GC Fish n Reef. It is a pain in the butt to get there, but I go to school in Stony Brook, so its just a few miles from there.

And.. thats pretty much it. Haha.

Basically for all dry goods, the best deals can be found online. Especially if you buy everything at once from places like dr foster and smith, because they normally have flat rate shipping.

Kissena aquarium is pretty good ... Curious to know why you ran out. But yea the language barrier is rough. I deal with the owners there and they know enough to keep their fish eating.

As mentioned previously, our vendors are awesome. Some you have to make a trek while some you dont. Wills water world and aquatic express bring in nice stuff as well.

Shannon feel free to check out Diamonds of the Reef, I bring back stuff from NJ to Bayside for no fee and only for people's convenience. You just have to tell him that you will pick up from me.
