Smaller, higher flow rates, less energy, run more quietly. But most of all, they can be used with a timer.

I'm sure you can find the flow rates if you Google them.

I just got 2 Evo 1400s for my 75g and have them on a 15 second alternating timer.

I love the flow. They're smaller and less noticeable than my K4s were.

They do make an audible click when they switch back and forth, and I haven't figured out yet if that's my RKL or the actual powerheads.

I picked up 2 of the 1400 and used them with the red sea wavemaker and the JBJ timer and yes they make a clicking noise at start up. Other then the noise they are pretty good. Comparing them to the old K4 I think that the K4 is more powerfull but when I talked to Hydoe they said that the flow is different and this is why I perceived that the 4 is stronger. I guess what they said that the evo 1400 will push water further.

New design's most significant improvement is the one piece shaftless impellar. The nose screen is eliminated and the magnet mount has an additional piece to lessen the vibration noise although it makes the smaller design stick out just as much as the old ones.

I just got my mp40, I have it on my 65gallon reef. It is serious, the price was crazy high but the performance is unmatchable. I plan on upgrading to a 120gallon. If I turn it up to the max my tank look like a tsunami....
