((if someone already has a thread or something close to this im sorry and will delete this, i just though this would be cool!))

Well i though it would be fun to start a thread about the dreaded "Impulse Buy"! Every has been there before, weather it be something you bought on the spot because of its looks, or maybe didnt buy but wish they did. It could be an impulse buy or impulse thought maybe. whatever the case may be, everyone knows that sometime in there life they were at there lfs (maybe when you first started the hobby or recent) walked around in the pet shop and happen to come across a fish/coral you have never seem before or always wanted to and said to your self "wow, this fish/coral is amazing! i have to have it! i cant pass this up!" you could of bought it, or not, what ever happened post it! It could of been the best decision or worst mistake ever but oh well, so be it. lets here some funny/interesting stories you may have about the addictiveness of marine wildlife!

everyone should state:
what it was
when it was
why it was
and did you bag it or toss the idea!

ill start it off. i will admit when i first started the hobby years back i had alot of times when i was introduced to some interesting species by my lfs that i wanted so bad, but knew i couldnt do that because i would not want to take the risk of killing it. That would be cruel, so i behaved and just took pics and enjoyed it. Yet about a year ago i went to my lfs and happen to see a spiny burr fish. i thought it was amazing and interesting having its spines constantly stright up and two little horns on its head. i went home researched the s**t out of this fish! it was like i was buying a car. after hearing so good and some bad responces i ended up waiting and said well if its still there in a week ill rethink it. go figure, a week later i walk in and they had ONE left. 5 inches. the guy told me they are good in aggressive tanks but not too aggressive. i recently set up my third tank 3 months prior and was going to be an aggressive tank and only had a few chromis in it still and alot of rock. so i went for it and made the burr fish my first aggressive fish purchase. still today the stinker has done amazing. has not grown alot, maybe an inch, but is a PIG. i love him. if i turn the white and blue lights on by accident in the morning and not just the blue he does his quick puff and looks like a deadly softball. i dont really know if you would considder him an impulse buy but i love him.
What i would said way my impulse buy was my latest fish. a walking batfish. i did not know a thing about it except saw a few pics. everywhere online was sold out so i figured it was rare or just uncommon. went to my lfs, saw him all alone in a tank. asked alot of questions. again went home, did alot of research, the next day went in and told the guy"ugh, i hate you, GIMME!" he is doing good though. does not move alot but when food is in the tank he goes nuts! my thread "walking bat fish...or alien?" shows pics and some info on him.

Now its your turn!:type:
