Hey everyone,

does anyone in / near manhattan have a PAR meter to test the output from the new AquaIllumination LED modules?

I have 2 of the new modules and I'm very interested in what they put out. They are incredibly bright. the AI website just published results suggested they are twice as powerful as 250W metal halides!?

they reported 700+ peak PAR at 19 inches!! but that test was through air. I want to test this through water. Anyone want to team up to put some valuable information in the public domain?

I'm on it! I have a new AI unit and a PAR meter.

I can give a rough idea of PAR spread, no fancy graphs like Sanjay makes, I just don't have the time!

well please post!

can you take measurements at different intensities also? not just max? i'm interested in what the par is like 8 inches down at say 30, 40, 50% in addition to just max, and also what about blues only etc. LEDs give you so many options that MH doesnt so there are more ways to mix and maatch and more stats to make us all curious!

I'll run some tests this week and I'll post the results. My water is pretty clear as of late since doing weekly water changes with the new ESV salt!

I don't run carbon, as I'm very sporadic in using it. So I worry about burning some of my more sensitive corals.

and Dearborn MI?! how'd you end up on MR?

Also, restating original question -- Anyone in the city that can allow me to use their PAR meter for testing AI LEDs?

We've been a sponsor of MR for over a year... great club and great people! 4th swap for us coming up in April!
