My tank is running well I was thinking of getting a sea hair I think the kids would get a kick out if it! I get the normal stuff on the glass every few days I dont have hair alagy I have corline and also some red alge on the rock (not Cyan) would the stuff on the glass and rocks be enought to keep the sea hair happy and not make him hungry I could add a sheet a seaweed to the tank also but dont want it to starve.

also do they get much the the size that thay are when you get them, I have a 45gal and would get a smaller one I have seen them pritty big...

In the past I have had the realy small one with no problem are they like bull's in a china closet do they knock over things as they move around the tank?.....

You need large amounts of macro algae to really keep seahares happy and healthy. Even hair algae is not enough contrary to some things you might read on the internet. Some seahares will only eat certain kinds of macro too which complicates things more.

Sea hares are cute as heck but dumb as nails. I had one in my 300, which at first had plenty of hair algae for it to eat. I really liked him, so as the supply started to dwindle, I tried to target feed him sheets of nori. I placed the sheets in a clip and dropped it nearly on top of him. Totally oblivious, it never noticed, and never ate the nori, before long it just disappeared. I really doubt he ran away.

Bottom line, in answer to your question, I don't think your system would support a sea hare.

If you have a sandbed and it is a year or more mature, you could possibly get a sea cucumber. They are similar to the sea hare in appearance (not exact, but from a kids perspective they are close). Just a funky looking blob that eats and craps. lol

My advice would be to not get one. These things eat MASSIVE amounts of algae, and what's on your glass wouldn't be sufficient. And feeding them nori sheets is annoying, because they're very, very stupid. ;)
