I found a site that has great information on keeping seahorses.
They also raise and sell their own.

I thought with the recent interest in stingnyc's seahorses for sale people would enjoy seeing this.

WOW are they expensive

they are. some are just $45 though, but the bigger more colorful ones do cost more. These are all tank bred, which is going to cost more.

this site is definitely for the seahorse lover :)

nice place to visit.

companies like this are going to be the future of our hobby.

Funny, this summer when I went there I looked in the yellow pages for fish shops, didn't find any. I always thought that was because of the limitations of exporting wildlife out of Hawaii. The fish shops in Hawaii (Big Island) are strictly for exporting, people who live there have the most beautiful reefs to swim in, they are not going to keep fish or corals and the few who do probably collect and trap them themselves.

Those are some really nice sites J. I think you did open a can of worms as I can already see some of the dipshits running out to buy the poor seahorses, when they cant even keep algae alive!!

That tank you have would be a perfect biotope for them. You should think about it.

al the people who wanted the seahorses were experienced fish/reef keepers, so I'm sure they would do fine.

definitely they are not for someone just starting out.

which tank, you mean the small one with no water in it? that one is going to Josh, maybe he would want a seahorse tank, that would be cool :D

That tank would be ideal, and Josh if you are reading this it would be very much appreciated if you did turn it into a serene tank with a mated pair of seahorses with a thread on MR with lots of pics!!!!!

On top of the fact that sea horse in general don't have long life spans.

if you want to go for it you can get a mated pair and raise little seahorses.
it's not easy but you would make your money back and always have seahorses around. :)

The Chicago Aquarium had a display, a think 2-3 years ago, on Sea Horse and they where able to keep some for 5 years but alot others for just 1-2 years.

With so many Sea Horse being taken out of wild, not just for the marine hobby, but for other reasons it's atleast good that some people are selling capitvie breed ones. What would be really good is if they start to reintroduce them back into the wild also.

yes it's cheaper for now. I think at some point collecting will be banned.

it is possible to breed many more species now, but people don't want to pay twice as much for a tank bred fish.
