Good news I hope. I received a UPS Ground label from Danner Mfg. to send my Mag 7 in for "corrosion inspection". I guess I'll hold on to the nylon screws I got from Shaun until Danner completes its "warranty service". Thanks again Ronen.

Jonathan, I could have used your help a week ago, but now I just don't have the energy to argue with the know-it-alls, nor teach them chemistry, biology and biochemistry. I just put out the warning, so that I could/may help someone in the future who may have the same problem. I didn't want to get into a debate.

If you read the thread, they believe that iron will not affect SPS growth and survival. Iron toxicity is a know fact in SPS, i.e. they are much more sensitive to it than other corals. Additionally, iron comes in many forms, but the people posting on RC don't seem to know or recognize this, so they spout that Rowa, iron dosing supplements, etc, contain iron and SPS aren't dying there. But there is chelated iron, bound iron and free iron (ferrious and ferric forms). One is much more deadly to life than the other.

People that use the example of rusting ships that have corals growing on them in the ocean to say that rust in an aquarium is OK are not worth arguing with. They fail to take in to account the trillions of gallons of water passing by to dilute any toxic effects of iron toxicity to the corals. In our aquariums with at most hundreds of gallons of water the concentration of any heavy metals leaching into the water will be higher and have a more toxic effect than in the ocean.
