Filter socks

How do you safely re-use filter socks used in my sump? How do you clean them safely without adding dangerous chemicals back into the tank after washing?

I use bleach. Then rinse real good and let it dry.Once fully dry it's safe.

And how often do you change it. Considering I change two out every other day, that would get expensive.

I do the same and leave them outside to air dry. No issues
