im 1 yr into my reef/fish tank with a coralife 150watt 10,000k metal halide x2 and blue actinic flr. x2 and want to know the best avail system to replace this one (ie watts , K, brand, hood, ballast etc ) as im now putting more hard coral ora frags in and still have a mix of softs and fish i have a 100 gal refugium/sump that has a cooler in the basement . any recomenations please ???

You could go with the 48 inch current sunpod 2x150 or the 2x250w halide system. Coralife makes a 48 inch unit that is awesome. Had it on my 55g tank and loved it.

The aquatinics are a very good option. You might also want to look into the lumen bright m/h. 2 150 watt pendants with coralvue ballast 12k reeflux bulbs will definitely do the job. You dont even need to supplement it with actinic. Some people do but it is not necassary. The other nice thing about this fixture is the mounting height. You can place these fixtures higher off the water than most giving you space to actually work on your tank without bumping into them or moving them all the time. In addition, this also helps with the amount of heat that gets passed along to your tank. That is really just an added benefit. They are truly great reflectors and the reeflux bulb...well just read sanjay(spell) article about bulbs and ballast. This guy did a lot of homework for our benefit. Either way you cant go wrong with either setup.
