I currently have a 30 gal with about about 70lb of LR and a 2inch sand bed. I will be setting up a new 70 gal tonight and transferring my live stock from my 29 gal. The problem is I my place is too small to have both tanks running at the same time for very long. Can anyone suggest a way to get the new tank up and and transferring my live stock?

To make the problem worse I would like to place the new tank in the spot the old tank is in now! I was thinking about doing some water changes over the next several days and saving the water in a plastic bin. I was thinking if i can get 15 gal of water "saved" i would have a total of about 45 gal of tank water to add to my new tank. The other 25 gal i was thinking i could fill with water new water.

Live stock.

I think a couple of buckets with power heads could move your current tank with help from friends and fill new tank with water move live rock and live stock. I once changed the substrate in my tank from CC to sand and I have about 100 lbs of live rock. I went to target and purchased these large rubbermaid containers filled them with some tank water and RO water. placed all my rocks and fish in them with a couple of power heads then replaced the substrate. Then filled the tank with a little water slowely so no to create a sand cloud and all worked out and didnt lose any fish. It did take a long time and I should of had a friend come over to help. But I did it myself. I was tired but happy with the results.

Get a bin or a bunch of buckets and some power heads or air stones. Your livestock should be okay in temporary housing while you are moving things around. This is what I plan on doing for my move.

Just be sure what you put with what in small housing.

I Used 35g Tubs Made One With All New Water And An Extra 20g Of New Water, Drained Tank Down As Much As Possible, Put Rock Into Old Tank Water Along With Everything Else Added A Little New Water To It, Pulled Old Tank Out Slide New One In, I Also Used My Old Sand And Finished Switch Over The Following Day, { Kept Power Heads In With Livestock And A Heater } Filled New Tank 1\2 With New Water, Then Started Adding Old Water And Live Stock, Topped Sump Off With New Water Poof 12 Hr's Later Tank Was Completely Switched Over And 3 Weeks Later Still Havent Lost Anything
