it seems like overnight the red slime algae is taking over my tank. Anyone know how to stop this thing. if it dosnt stop it will choke al my coral. my water levels are fine and chemistry. I hate this slime.its like someone threw a pile of snot on your new suit when your ready to go out.

I will do water changes and siphon out as much as I can for now.

And yes I use r/o water

phosban pads wont work as well as a reactor. Try adding some extra flow to your tank. I was talking to Masterswimmer the other day and he was telling me he had the dreaded slime problem a while back, and all he did was add another powerhead to the tank, and it erradicated almost all of it in one day.

I would at minimum test your water parameters before taking any drastic measures. Get a phosphate test kit to determine your levels. Also do you have a refugium? I'm no expert, added one as part of my sump and added Chaeto and it seems to work wonders on my tank.

I would post all of your water parameters and a list of what you are dosing. That will help tell what is causing the cyano.

Pics of Red Slime, why ?
I think that Red slime comes from water temp being too high ? has your gone up recently ? This is my own theory. Unless I read it somewhere and dont realize it.
I had it,added a fan to my sump, temp went down a bit, don't have it anymore.
