I must say I am very impressed with this ballast. I had 4 39 watt t5's set up with the workhorse ballast and I though it looked great. Well my friend once I hooked up the icecap. BANG....Night and Day. It absolutely looked 100x better than before. Just give credit where someone might be considering doing what I did. I highly recommend it.

Peace all,

Rob

I will take a after pic. I have the before in my gallery. Yes, it did stat it overdrives it (I believe to 65w)but it also give off less heat and extends the life of the bulbs. I just happy I made the switch.

I've been overdriving my bulbs for a few years now, and they are great.
I've read somewhere that IceCap ballasts fire up the bulbs in a way which is less "damaging" to the bulbs then other ballasts, but at the same time, high temperature from the bulbs will destroy the phosphors quicker. So you will need a LOT of active cooling of the bulbs or they bulb life will definitely decrease. I typically use my bulbs about 15 months, but they still grow sps well at month 15.
