Since I am not having any luck selling my tank (was not sure I wanted to anyway) I will have to do the best with it as I can.
I have a few questions hope they are not annoying

1- My tank has gotten that brown algae 3 times now I know it is part of the cycle but how many times do you get it When i say algae I mean the rocks are all brown again

2- 1 of my rocks have green algae on it not hair just green and slimyis that bad or good?

3- the flow in the sump I have been told good flow to stop algea but then I was told slow to let the sump work? which is it,

4-looking to add a anemone but my trates are still high I have done water changes and still do but they stay around 20-40 will that hurt it?

5- My hob overflow box is getting that algae that grows on the glass on it is that ok ?

1. You get it until your water parameters are in check and leveled off.
2. Bad it's cyano
3. Not sure what you want info on flow within the sump? As long as you have no dead spots in the sump you should be fine.
4. Stop doing water changes and let the tank level off, those nitrates are too high for an anemone and for most inverts as well.
5. Which algae? Coraline? If that is so then it's ok.

I went or I go to wonderful world of fish Steve is great i did a 25 gallon water change 2 weeks agao and I vacuumed the heck ou of the sand He said the trates may be in the sand it really only brought it down alittle

I feed once a day one cube they get almost all of the food
So i cannot figure where the trates are coming from
I use distilled or ro water/

any help or suggestions would be great But I cannot see whay they are so high

Tank is 75 gallon been up alittle over 4 months
I just removed the protein skimmer and looking into a aqua remora C The bermuda rogue I had gave me alot of microbubbles
My tank is not by a window and the lights are on 10 hours a day

I was told not to worry about the algae it is feeding of the high trates and a sign of the tank maturing

Is this true

yes it is, and a remora isnt going to be big enough for that tank, if you are getting a sump, get a in sump skimmer. i personally like the euroreef, and go for a skimmer thats rate for atleast double the capacity, most over rate their skimmers anyways. how old are the bulbs also, and you reaaly need a clean up crew, what water are you using ? reg sink water or ro-di water

I use distilled water or ro/di whenI have time to make The light is 1 week old and the bulbs Nova extrem6 bulb

I was told to wait on the clean up crew also since all my snails died in the tank and might be from the trates.

I would rather not use a skimmer but I am being told aslo I should . The one I had was ok just always with the bubbles I could not get id of them no matter what I did
